I'm a decent cook, and great baker, but gravy and I do NOT get along. And I've come to accept that.

Ah, c'mon, you can do it. It takes time to get a feel for it, but don't let it beat you.

Sad but true. My cookies and brownies and bread and many other dishes are to die for though

I love to bake but rarely do it except in the winter.

Biscuits and cornbread being the major exceptions. I may start up with yeast/sourdough bread again, too.

summer+cooking can be a bad combo. Especially if you don't have A/C. *nods*

Homemade bread is THE BEST though

Even when you *do*. Every moment the oven is on, I'm counting up the additional bucks I'm spending on extra A/C.

My old house was perfect, we actually had central air, but could close off the kitchen vent and shut the door and we'd put a fan in the window to suck out the hot air. And we had a WONDERFUl gas stove. I did a ton of jams there and baked bread and tons of stuff. loved. it

I learned to cook with gas. I really wish I still had it.

The former owners of this house redid the kitchen and got rid of the gas stove. morons. it's TONS better. especially for making jam. or rising bread. *sighs*
