Home today and I did something I've been meaning to do for a while now. I *walked* to the *cheap* grocery store. That's about two miles away. Now, there was a time in the not *too* distant past when two miles would have been a breeze.
That day is *definitely* past. ;-)
But it can come again.
I picked up what I went for and then got myself a sandwich from Subway. I also rode the bus back most of the way (which had been the plan, anyway).
Suffice to say I was half dead when I got home and have been feeling it ever since, but still. Pain aside, it's still very cool. I so need to get back into shape. I shouldn't have to stop and let my heart rate drop and catch my breath during a two mile walk. Ten years ago, I had the resting heart rate of an athlete. I always loved the look on the tech's face when they did the EKG: fat and forty isn't supposed to *do* that. :-) Then the joints started kicking my butt and I slowly stopped exercising. By the time part of the joint problem was diagnosed as bursitis (and *cured*! YAY!), the damage to my fitness level was already done.
It's gonna be a long hard climb, but better now than ten years from now.
