Day 9 going to cabin
Dear GOD am I glad that Dan's dad drove his suv up here. Rutted, potholed, and steep cliff dirt roads are sooo not cool x3
The cabin is neat. Running water (of limited supply) solar power, and a deck which looks out over the canyons behind us. Funny thing was, I had no signl on the highway up here, had it on the dirt road, then lost it just as we got to the canyon ^.^ oh well.
Day 10 at cabin
Read books, watched nature, fire feed, cooked marshmallows. What's there to say about staying in a secluded mountain cabin beyond that it's really nice? Listened to Dan's dad tell good stories. Good day.
Oh, and I shocked everybody by how fast I read. "First and Last", the first Gaunt's Ghosts novel from the Warhammer 4k universe was good. I quite got into it in fact, and the author even psyched me out and pulled a bait and switch at the end. Very good.
I did have trouble getting into the world. Much like most fantasy, high science scifi tends to replace common stuff with new names. In this case, Radio is now Vox. In fantasy its usually the Horse which gets remade.
But I read the thing in about 4 hours of solid reading, and I liked it.
Day 11 back from xabin
Sleeping up here is weird. I'm horribly uncomfortable till I'm asleep then dead to the world and happily asleep.
Saw so deer on the road. Very skitish. Heading back into salt lake.
"She's got music, she's got rhythmn, and that's why we have three kids now."
You know the Catholics only approve of two different birth control methods. Rhythm and Blues.
Back in civilization. Or at least as close as Salt Lake comes to it.
