I'm trying my hardest to decide on what novel idea to work on this November for National Novel Writing Month. Too many ideas....
1.) The first one was a kind of romantic paranormal invesitgation story, featuring a demon hunter and his current girlfriend (read: true love) trying to solve the demonic happenings and mysteries involving a demon-infested day care facility that's also a portal to Hell... This story involves a dry sense of humor, fast-paced action scenes, DEVIL MAY CRY shout-outs, and slight poking at childhood icons (e.g., fairy tale story books come to life and torment the living.) -- a more whimsical, supernatural feeling to it; something I could have fun with and a lot like last year's project.
2.) The other idea was a courtroom drama/murder mystery that focuses on the interaction between childhood-friend lawyers and how they feel about their cases/clients, and possibly each other (omg LAWYERCEST!). The plot involves a body being discovered in the girls' lockerroom at a high school, jealous rivalry between sisters, and a teacher-student love affair that ends with mutiple accounts of tears and blood shed. -- a more serious story dealing with the darker side of humanity and characters that go along with all the Law Studies I've been taking, the courtroom dramas I've recently developed a sweet tooth for, and all the Phoenix Wright I've been playing (all three games).
3.) My third idea, the one I've done the most planning on, is a yaoi adaptation of The Little Mermaid. I've actually gotten the characters, plot, conflict, and dramatic structure all outlined and figured out; it's the story of a young merman who is learning to become a scholar and scribe with a college major (LOL) in Human Studies that falls in love with a human surfer (who may or may not also be a law student). I retain some of the basic elements and switch things up, and in the end it's not really happy but it isn't sad, either, and it leaves room for a sequel. xD -- This story is pretty much developed enough to write on November 1st, except that the opening lines and such will prevent my progress; it's going to be a fluffy, happy, light-hearted love story for the most part.
4. The fourth idea, my current brain child, is screaming at me to write it... it's a combination of my obessession with lawyers and merfolk. You got it: "UnderSea Felony: MERMAID LAWYER ACTION- GO!" xD It's orignial, but other than the fact that the lawyers are merfolk and the court proceedings take place under the sea, I have no idea where this story is going. It's orginial, though, and quirky to say the least -- I just don't think it can go the distance of 50,000 words. -- Humourous, parody-like writing, with massive satire on the legal system and all those courtroom dramas on tv.
Sooooo....
I'm having problems deciding which one I wanna write! I want lawyers, but I also want to write mermaids, and then... well, number 4 keeps happening because I can't make up my mind and I'm tempted on splicing.
Also, I have the hankering to write but once again, I don't know what... I want to write dialoge though, that's the thing I'm craving...
Annnnnyways, this has been a strange writing-related rant. Stay tune for more NaNoWriMo 2008 blurps...
(I really would appreciate some feedback here!)
