Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 review (spoilers ahead)

(I've been putting this off for so long, but not anymore!)

I must say I overall enjoyed it. The last hurrah for us Harry Potter fans. No more official dressed up gatherings releases for us. At least we still have Pottermore and the Universal's Wizarding World (and for me, Harry Potter Day at Disneyland)

Movie-wise, some things I really loved, some not so much. I originally thought the 2-hour length was going to be too short but it was a good length. But if my comments make it sound like negative complaints, that isn't at all how I felt about the film! I was prepared to bawl like a baby, especially during a certain duel scene, because I heard the outcome was going to be more intense than in the book (and the rumor was true! T-T).

I didn't go to the midnight premiere but I did go to a Costumer's Guild gathering the night of, so everyone was dressed up for that. While there were some generic Hogwarts students (and a few characters I didn't recognize), most were dressed as obscure characters. We had one Harry, a Mad-Eye, Moaning Myrtle, two Beauxbatons girls, Bill Weasley, Molly Weasley, Professor Trelawney, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape, and two Bellatrix's, myself included.

Before our screening our theater actually had a little live pre-show. They had a Harry Potter and Bellatrix Lestrange wand duel that later turned into a sword fight. (I was so tempted to say, "Oh the Pirates are in the next theater" XD)

{C}{C}{C}-Yay Dobby got his tombstone!

-Hermione, you make a pathetic Bellatrix. XD How the goblins were fooled I will never know! (Yay for Helena!)

-Gringotts looked great.

-Interesting concept of using Harry being a Horcrux to feel and find the other Horcruxes. Clever if I do say so.

-I'm glad Aberforth had a big role, since the actor playing him said he had a "blink-and-you'll miss him" part (he lied). I do wish they could've explained more about Ariana and how Dumbledore became the man he was.

-HARRY: “I know that’s not much to go on-“
SEAMUS: “That’s nothing to go on.”
XD

-I think Pansy’s “Someone grab him” scene could’ve been better. I would have liked to see all the houses turn on her instead of just Harry’s close friends and the Order. At least Scarlett Byrne got her moment.

-“I’ve always wanted to use that spell :D.” People were laughing and applauding at that line in my theater.

-Liked it when the Protego spells around Hogwarts being set up.

-Also like to mention the music score. Love the score. It felt so motivating.

-I didn't expect the Grey Lady to have such a huge role. (I know she does in the book but since it was the movie I thought they would cut it down.)

-I didn’t think Neville could get more awesome. But he could. Even his whole “yeah, you and whose army!” line was great!

-I'm sorry, but I will never see what girls see in Scabior. He still looks like a Twilight vampire.

-I’m perfectly fine with the Chamber of Secrets scene and Ron and Hermione kissing there. But if the producers didn’t go that route it would’ve been funny to hear the line, “Oi! There’s a war going on here!” XD

-The way Snape died: The way they had it I thought Voldemort was going to be the one to kill him since he slashed him first, but they did have Nagini finish him. At least she didn’t eat his body.

-I thought the Prince’s Tale scene was a bit jumbled with scenes. If I didn’t read the books before hand I’m not sure if I would’ve been able to follow all the parts. Nevertheless great scene. (Although I’m a bit confused when in the timeline Snape went to the Potter house because it must have been after Dumbledore said Harry survived but before Hagrid came to get him).

-No I was not grossed out by Voldemort’s shriveled body at King’s Cross. I apparently was one of few though.

-I’m sorry but the first time I saw Dumbledore in King’s Cross I thought, “Gandolf!” XD

-The King’s Cross scene was okay, but do you think they could’ve added a little more of Dumbledore's story to it?

-Gee they sure took a lot of creative liberties with the battles after Harry “dies.” Some better some worse. XP

- Being hugged by Voldemort, yeah that’s not creepy!

-Would it have killed the writers to include Neville’s “I’ll join you when Hell freezes over!” line? It would’ve fit right in with his speech!

-As sad as I was with the Mrs. Weasley vs. Bellatrix duel (and even the fight itself, it was so short!) I’m happy they included “Not my daughter you bitch!”

-When she died though, I was moaning! My friend next to me cheered then said to me, “I’m sorry.” -_- Though she couldn’t see me, my face pretty much said to her, “Shut up! T-T”

-I’m also upset that they didn’t have Voldemort to witness it.

-I almost thought Neville wasn’t going to be the one to kill Nagini the way they dragged it out, which I would’ve been VERY upset about. Thankfully he did! Everyone cheered for that.

-Did anyone besides Ron, Hermione, and Neville see Harry kill Voldemort?

And finally...
-No Teddy Lupin? Why did they cast him then?
