We got a shoplifter last night, was sweet. She was a regular customer too. She was on the electric cart, I saw her go by the sushi stand. And I saw Rick start watching her. She eventually comes to the checkout and waits in line. I see Rick come over to the checkout and just sort of wait nearby. Eventually it's her turn, and all she had was a packet of seasoning. Then Rick comes up, bangs the checkstand a couple times near her to get her attention, points at her, and tells her "I'm going to need you to pay for everything you have." She said that was all she had, Rick said he saw her and was watching her the whole time; she hid the sushi in her shirt. He said she was hiding them under her shirt (she was somewhat old, pretty overweight, and one of our uglier shoppers (top 5 I'd have to say)). She lifted her arms and claimed not to have them, Rick kept saying she did. Then he told her "Don't come into my store again or there's going to be problems." She started whining as she drove out of the store in the cart how "embarrassing this is" and Rick just said, "yes it is." Then a few minutes later, Isaias, one of our courtesy clerks came in and said he had seen her take 3 packages of sushi out of her bra. I knew something was fishy...sorry I had to.
I wish we could just bust these people instead of letting them go.
