Ok...this is not news to anybody...I am in a band. Well, our drummers dad turns 50 in July and jason, as a birthday present for his dad has assembled his present now, we have 5 months to get it done...for his birthday we are playing a set entirely of covers. Now...heres the thing, not to stand high and mighty...but I think I have the most rigorous and exhaustive part in it. Jason has been playing drums since he was a child, arguably since he could sit down at them. All these songs he has played along with for years...so he is fine. Next is jesse, our bassist...he is a great bassist and the bass parts in these songs for the most part are relatively simple, he will have no problem. As far as vocals, matt will be stuck with some lengendary vocalists sure...but I think that he can put his own spin on it, and it will sound great. Here is the thing, these songs...many which im sure you people will know...are more associated with the guitar riffs and solos. Here is the set list:
1. Message in a Bottle - Police
2. Train kept a rollin - Aerosmith
3. Dream On - Aerosmith
4. Hells Bells - AC/DC
5. Thunderstruck - AC/DC
6. Eruption - Van Halen
7. Aint talking bout love - Van Halen
8. La Grange - ZZ Top
9. No Quarter - Led Zepplin
10. Good times, Bad Times - Led Zepplin
11. When the levee breaks - Led Zepplin
Ok...now for anybody that knows these artists...in Aerosmith we have Joe Perry...arguably one of the best rock-blues guitarists out there and train kept a rollin has hard as fuck solo in it. AC/DC has Angus Young, the main verse and chorus riffs are misleading cause in a solo that guy rips it up like whoa, he is amazing. Ok...has anyone here heard Eruption?? If you havent, listen to it to figure out what im talking about...its crazy. The zz top song will just be plain fun...but ok...Jimmy Page??? I have to mimick page solos? that guy is fucking good! I am pretty confident I can do it...but its a lot of work...I dare say more than anybody else.
*SIGH* but if I CAN do it...its gonna be panty dropping, drool worthy awesomeness.
