I am doing some stuff with ubuntu, installing some good stuff but so far just skimming the surface. i am using lamp stack and implementing some stuff like ldp, mediawiki, phpnuke, oscommerce...starting to dev googlepage creator a bit. setting up snort-mysql and kismet, setting up dyndns on a machine soon, vnc is not the way to go as i have found it interminably slow, have to get better with ssh. ran nessus the other day, no other real notable news, installed hypercube for lady down in kennebunk - port web hosting and she stiffed me!! she couldn't figure it out it was userland hell! was cool cpanel and fantastico script---super easy but could be limiting. free open source alt are developing like openinstaller, people are also selling openoffice the gpl encourages this as long as you include source of course...go eff!
