“Dude, I respect that you’re back with Veronica, but she’s not here! She’s off in New York, doing whatever it is people do in New York. Which means it is the perfect time to take a little road trip down to TJ! Don’t mess my game, dude. You gotta come with me!”
“And why is that, Dick?”
“Because!”
Dick didn’t seem to have a more complex answer than that, which was fine. It’s not like Logan had been expecting one. Dick, as a general rule, was not a very complex person.
Now, Logan could argue. He had a list of reasons why going to Tijuana with Dick this weekend was a bad idea. But he wasn’t completely oblivious to the fact that it would get him no where, so he ultimately decided he had no choice.
And if Veronica asked?
That was his story and he was sticking to it.
“Fine. We’ll go to TJ.”
“Awesome, dude! This is gonna be so very very awesome. Just what we both need after the bummer that was graduation night.”
Bummer, Logan thought, was definitely one way of putting it. He sometimes (not often) admired Dick’s ability to not see the weight of a situation. It could be a blessing, not ever worrying about a damn thing.
Dick slapped Logan on the back.
“You’re not gonna regret this, dude. And don’t worry. What happens in TJ, stays in TJ. You wanna hook up with any strippers, I won’t say a word to Veronica. Not. A. Word.”
Dick mimed zipping his mouth shut and throwing away the key.
Logan laughed and shook his head.
This was going to be an interesting weekend.
