Summary: Donghae believed that he would be way more crazier than his seatmate, Kyuhyun when falling in love
“Can we get done over this before lunch?”
Hyukjae just stepped one foot at the room and he had to face with a sudden question and a confusing expression of Donghae’s. He then slowly looked at his wristwatch and shook his head lightly,
“You cannot learn geometry in just one and a half hour, can you?”
Donghae mentally and physically groaned.
“Then why didn’t you come earlier?” He started to blame the other.
Hyukjae stared Donghae in disbelief as his face began to redden courtesy of his annoyance. How Donghae could blamed him like that when all the reasons why they had to delay the whole activity were because of him-and that stupid guard actually. But he would have told the guard or the maids that someone was coming over so they would let him in and started everything faster.
“Me? Come earlier? Did you know what time did I came here? Did you know that your stupid guard didn’t let me in for almost half an hour? Did you know that I had to wait for you in your living room for almost an hour?!” Hyukjae couldn’t suppress everything again and burst out just like that.
Donghae was taken aback by how Hyukjae answered him. He said nothing for a while but then realized something from Hyukjae’s sentence,
“The guard didn’t let you in?”
“Yes, for almost half an hour,” Hyukjae reported like a kid. His expression was really priceless. His face was all red, and aura of irritation could be felt around him.
Donghae kept his silence again and looked like he was thinking real hard about something.
“Did you bring someone with you?” Donghae finally questioned,
Hyukjae was startled by the question. He didn’t understand how Donghae could ask that.
“Well… someone… gave me a ride,” Hyukjae nervously answered while peering through his eyelashes to look at the other’s expression.
Donghae just looked at him for a moment before looked away and said,
“Next time don’t bring any person with you,” Donghae said. “I have told the guards that someone’s coming over. I told them it is a guy, only a person. So maybe they didn’t let you in before the other person that was with you left.”
“Weird,” Hyukjae muttered after hearing the explanation.
“Well, that’s how the system works here,” Donghae practically brought a smirk while saying it. “Let’s get started?”
Hyukjae looked at Donghae for a moment and didn’t see any bored look Donghae would usually throw him at school. Maybe he wasn’t that bad, Hyukjae thought. Hyukjae quickly tried to erase all annoyance and irritation that was hovering him. He didn’t want his not-so-lucky day became worse because of himself.
On the other hand Donghae, he felt, even a bit, guilty to the other guy in the room. Well it weren’t all his mistakes actually, but he just felt that he needed to give an explanation.
And the reason why they he had to finish the tutoring before the lunch was because he just had the hunch that it wouldn’t be a good thing to get his mother know that he was tutored by someone.
His mother was on a shopping-vacation for several days and he just realized that she would come back today after receiving the text that she would be cooking for Donghae in the lunch time. Which in the other words, she would come back home at around that time.
Donghae didn’t know but he just had the hunch that he needed to get the tutor-thing done without letting his mother know about anything involving it.
But… well, not everything worked the way he wanted it to be.
---
“Don’t you get the picture?” Hyukjae almost shouted out of frustration as he saw Donghae shook his head casually. It had been an hour since they started and not even a single problem Hyukjae could get Donghae to solve. He then gave up and wrote the ways of answering completey as well as the answer on the paper and gave it to Donghae.
“Here, there are the ways to solve as well as the answer. Force your brain to understand at least one of them.”
Then Hyukjae proceeded to explain the next problem without caring about Donghae’s reaction. The main intention of the tutor had changed for him. He was no longer wanted to explain until Donghae understand. He just wanted to teach and go home, that’s all. They got the record and Hyukjae just had to edit some parts out and it could be handed in to the teacher.
Donghae was actually paying attention on every single thing Hyukjae explained. He never understood things involving geometry and took the chance to learn. But he was just never into that subject. And he swore he would never be able to understand.
Donghae regretted why he didn’t think of the advantages of letting Kyuhyun come. At least if he had thought about it, he would persuade Kyuhyun to come and just leave the thing he got to explain in the text and the success percentage would be at least 80%.
With Kyuhyun’s presence, Donghae bet he wouldn’t be so tortured like this.
Donghae was looking at the problem Hyukjae explained mindlessly when the both of them snapped out of the inter phone call. An information then immediately ran through Donghae’s mind.
He had forgotten that his mother was coming.
He stumbled a bit when tried to stood up from his chair to reach for the phone and answered it.
“Hae…” his mom’s voice could be heard and it successfully made his heartbeat stopped for a moment.
It was an inter phone call. It means, his mom had arrived at the home and was somewhere downstairs, obviously waiting for him to join her.
“Mom,” Donghae could only say.
“The food is ready, come downstairs and eat, okay?”
And the line broke.
Donghae cursed inwardly as he diverted his gaze to Hyukjae who was still engrossed with his papers.
“Umm… Can we continue this in the next… meeting?” Donghae nervously asked Hyukjae. He didn’t even understand on why he had to be nervous at this time.
Hyukjae turned his head to Donghae’s direction, looked at him for a time before he nodded in agreement.
Donghae heaved a sigh of relief, he thought that it would be just fine if Hyukjae go home and he’d eat together with his mom normally. He wondered why he had to be worried earlier on Hyukjae meeting his mom. He would just answer honestly that he’s his tutor and he believed that his mom would understand.
Hyukjae prepared for his things and get them back inside his bag. Donghae on the other hand waited Hyukjae to finish what he was doing and decided go downstairs together because it didn’t feel just right to left Hyukjae there in his room and went out before he did.
When Hyukjae done and stood up, Donghae started to walk to his room’s door to open it but he stopped when the door opened from the outside and revealed the person he was worrying to meet, his mother.
On the other hand Donghae’s mother, she was impatient on waiting his son to come downstairs and because of that, she went upstairs by herself wanting to give some speech on Donghae for not being hurry on her command. But she was surprised when found another guy in his son’s room after opening the unlocked door of Donghae’s room.
“Hae?” The only word came from Donghae’s mom’s lips. She said the word while staring and observing Hyukjae with an indescribable look.
Hyukjae who was feeling uncomfortable with the look the woman-who he guessed to be Donghae’s mom’s look, managed to greet her politely,
“Ah, anyeonghaseyo auntie,” he bowed lightly in the process.
Donghae’s mother who was stunned for a long time managed to greet him back mindlessly,
“Hello Hyukjae,”
Donghae as well as Hyukjae looked surprised on how his mother called him.
“Mom, you know him?” Donghae asked in surprise, looked weirdly at his mom then changed his line of vision to Hyukjae who was standing behind him.
Donghae’s mom mentally scolded herself. She had been thinking a lot about this Hyukjae guy she used to bump in the convenience store lately. The guy her friend Yoonseung used to foretell to be Donghae’s half in the future.
“We have met once… In the convenience store,” she answered to Donghae’s question while giving Hyukjae a look that again indescribable for Hyukjae to understand.
Hyukjae seeing that look couldn’t help but to nod in agreement. He had felt that Donghae’s mom seemed to be familiar but he just wasn’t sure if he ever met her. And how did she know his name?
“Let’s eat, Hae… and Hyukjae… you should join too,” Donghae’s mom managed to say and hurriedly turned around and went downstairs without giving a chance for Hyukjae to decline the offer.
The awkward silence covered both of the guys since Donghae’s mom had left. Hyukjae felt really nervous on the offer especially when he knew that Donghae didn’t like him very much.
“Should I really join?” Hyukjae nervously asked. Both of them were still located on Donghae’s room, glued on their previous position.
Donghae sighed before answering,
“My mom has said so,” he walked away from the room after talked the few words and left the door opened for Hyukjae.
Hyukjae then quietly followed him downstairs to the dining room.
---
The dinner went oh-so-awkwardly. Hyukjae couldn’t help but to feel guilty. He felt that he had ruined a dinner between Donghae and his mom. From what he’d seen, it looked like that Donghae didn’t really have a good relation with his mother. And he for the second time felt really bad that he just had made it worse at the moment.
“So… what did you two do up there?” Donghae’s mom’s voice stroke the silence into pieces but it in the same time strangely brought the three of them to a deeper and more awkward silence. She asked it as if the both of Donghae and Hyukjae had done something inappropriate in Donghae’s room.
Donghae was the one who answered. He was afraid that that if they brought the situation into an even more awkward one, it could bring his oh so dramatic superstitious mother to misunderstanding.
“We did some kind of… you know, tutoring thing.”
His mother nodded slowly as if she understood the entire thing clearly.
“You two are classmates?” The woman who was in her forties wondered aloud. She didn’t seem to be interested in the tutor itself. In this phase, someone’s mother who got his child tutored by another child should be casting a simple appropriate thanks to the child who do the teaching job.
This time, Donghae’s mother looked at Hyukjae as if encouraging the answer to come out from him. Hyukjae of course realized the look and nodded lightly and spoke a simple yes.
And that was the end of their conversation. They continued their lunch quietly and when they’re finished, Hyukjae politely thanked the both of the remain for the lunch and excused himself.
Donghae’s mom just nodded while forcing a smile to appear in response while Donghae didn’t say nor did anything.
Hyukjae was in the main gate when he finally realized that the residential where Donghae’s mansion was located was out of taxi’s or any public transportation’s reach. He heaved a deep sigh and fished his cell phone out of his pocket and started to dial a short taxi’s agency’s number he knew.
---
After Hyukjae left the dining room, Donghae and his mom remained still on their seat. The both of them were drowned in thoughts.
“Did you REALLY do the tutoring with him?” Donghae’s mom broke the silence and casted the sudden question. Her voice was very soft, almost soundless.
Donghae turned his empty line of vision of the food to his mom, looked in disbelief at his own mom.
“Didn’t I say so?” Donghae murmured under his breath but was adequate for his mom to hear.
“You could say anything you wanted to,” Donghae’s mom said a bit louder this time.
“Just say what you wanted to say. I know this lunch isn’t planned for nothing,” Donghae spoke a good seconds after.
His mother kept her silence for a good minute before she spoke,
“Yoonseung said that it would turn out good if I say it to you tod-“
“You met her again?” Donghae cut his mom’s sentence off. He couldn’t help it. His mom really liked to meet, specifically visit this one friend of her that claimed herself to be a fortune teller, and Donghae didn’t like it even a bit. He didn’t like his mom to be held by the delusive untrue words she obtained. And she hated her mom to spend quite an amount of money for that kind of bullshits.
Donghae’s mom looked down at her lap, as if she was preparing something on mind before taking a deep deep breath and muttered,
“The guy aunt Yoonseung used to foretell is Hyukjae.”
Donghae was confused at first and tried to open the files in his brain to find the thing he believed his mom had said about ‘the guy’ and ‘the one aunt Yoonseung used to say’.
He widened his eyes and his jaw dropped upon understanding his mother’s word. He was about to protested aloud when something, he believed to be his evil side surfaced out of him in a sudden way and made him think twice.
He kept his silence for a good amount of time, processing the pros and cons of the thing that had came up earlier and decided to agree on his other side of self.
“Kyuhyun is so going to love it,”
He guided a corner of his own lips up, to a smirk.
