A recap from the weekend (in a style befitting
keelamonster &
suard). They don't like reading long posts and prefer the bullet points:
- Had one of my best Halloweens yet. Why you ask? Aside from having great company, it was free! All my costumes (both of them), I made out of items I already had (or someone was kind enough to donate them). Went with keelamonster and laurajones to a party dressed as J. Howard Marshall II. Laura, in all her glory, came dressed as my wife, someone you might have heard of ... Anna Nicole Smith. Keely excellently provided all the props (wheelchair, IV bag, air thingie they put in your nose) and we were a regal couple. I wish we had gone somewhere they gave out cash money prizes because we would have won. Keely has pictures, so don't ask me. The costume was not possible without Keely's work, though, who was smashing in her Ladybug of the Evening outfit.
- The whole wheelchair thing was interesting because I really didn't know anyone at the party and apparently a lot of people didn't know if I was really in a wheelchair or if it was just part of the costume. After 45 minutes or so, I figured the point had been made and got up to get drinks and walk around. Many people were shocked when I stood up and one girl grabbed me and said she was happy because she didn't want to go up to me and say "Great costume." when I really was in a wheelchair.
- Sitting in the wheelchair, and letting someone else control where I went, was interesting in its own right. I didn't like it one bit and found myself very self-conscious about everything. I didn't feel comfortable with myself, didn't talk much and generally felt uncomfortable. It gave me a little insight into how my grandmother felt before she died. Then again, I could stand up when I was done feeling like that.
- Saturday was a difficult day. The day started with the last soccer game for the Renegades this season. A 4-0 loss. *le sigh* Then I bypassed a trip to walk around Pilot Mountain on a beautiful fall Saturday for the Georgia - Florida game. That didn't go well either. The only good part of the day was drunken singing at the JJ with keelamonster and suard.
- I had big plans for Sunday, really I did, but I let the lethargy win and didn't do any of it. Except the laundry, which was much needed. I spent much of Sunday night discovering a new show: Joan of Arcadia. It's a CBS family drama about a girl who gets visits from G-d. It's very well done and I really like it. I had TiVo'd 4 episodes of the six that have aired and watched all four back to back to back to back. It's really well written. kristenism, it's your kind of show.
- I also updated my Friendster profile. You should go add me or something.
