Thoughts and tidbits
• I'm partaking in my first candidate-related volunteer effort ever tonight and I'm interested to see how it goes. Admittedly, I get swept up in stuff like this, naturally, but I think it's something that's important and often in the past I've taken a very hands-off approach (basically, I voted and that's it). I was always really impressed when cathboblet was really involved in politics so based on that, and my own personal feelings of who is best able to run the country, I'm trying something new this year.
• I've got a friend from college who I just found out is headed back to Athens to work in the Athletic Association. Not to say I'm not happy for him (he's an awesome dude), and he's already married and settled and stuff, but it certainly got me thinking about moving and my life and where I'm at. He's also in a much easier-to-adapt-to-working-in-a-university career (administration) whereas getting a tech job in Athens, no matter how progressive we are, is something that'd be difficult. There's a 1,000 logical reasons not to move to Athens.
But I'm feeling the heartstrings pulled, that's for sure.
• I got accepted for a Focus Group for next Monday. On what? Liquor. And they're paying me for this.
You may begin to be jealous of me now. As if you're not already.
• My office is frigid right now. I can barely feel my fingers.
• Continuing the cold theme, two mornings in a row I've had the water go cold in the shower. I know the obvious answer is "wake up earlier" but there's been congestion in my bathroom in the morning which means I might have to switch bathrooms if I want to get a shower before 9 a.m. In addition, the new roommate who is using that bathroom is a) out of town for three weeks (and will be on the road often) and b) works from home. So time on shower isn't that important. And my current two bathroom-mates are women and (stereotypically) take a long time in the mornings.
Listing it all out here, this seems über-obvious.
• Rumor has it there will be some job news tomorrow which will have a large bearing on where I can move in May when our lease is up.
• I just finally finished Tin Man last night -- it's been sitting on my DVR since early December. I liked it but they really, really rushed to get everything wrapped up. It also helps that I'm in love with Zooey Deschanel.
• Finishing up season 1 of BSG (got one disc to go). Starbuck's on her way home, in case you're wondering. Not sure what to think yet; I like it, but I'm not addicted.
