I think one of the biggest problems I've had with this breakup is that I feel like I'm whining about it in a far disproportionate measure to what I actually invested in it. I knew her for five months and we dated for four of them, but, really, compared to what a lot of people are going through I really don't have that much to complain about.
Anyway, my weekend was a bevy of nut-kicking-in but I'm feeling better today. I remember yesterday while I was listening to some appropriately (yet disturbing) depressing Depeche Mode song I actually had the cognizant thought of "Ok, I'm done now." So, whatever that means.
Today I feel better. I think mostly that has to do with listening to a lot of Richard Jeni last night.
• I joined up with jdate again although my heart really isn't in right now. Y'know ... back in the saddle and all. That said, what happened to all of the tall women? And, more interestingly, why does that site think I'm only interested in women who are shorter than 5'4? Not to say that there's anything wrong with women who are short (some of my favorites (
teany and
leopard_lady) are completely awesome) ... but is there an overstock of short women that I don't know about?
• Richard Jeni, who died of an "apparent" face full of his own gun on Sunday, was one of the funniest people I have ever had the pleasure of being in the same room as; Robbie and I went to see him perform at Charlie Goodnights in Raleigh. You know how people use the acronmy ROTFL? Yeah, well I was literally pulling off that internet jargon on the dirty, dirty floor of that club. I remember one distinct moment where he looked at me during one of my many periods of not being able to breathe because I was laughing so hard and noticing the look of sheer bewilderment on his face. It was as if he was thinking "I can't believe you guys are laughing this hard at this stuff" and I think it was a bit uncomfortable for him. Maybe. I don't know. RIP, funnyman.
• One more person is leaving my company. All I can think about is something akin to rats and a sinking ship.
• ETA: Thanks to all those who have invited me to join your NCAA bracket pool this year but I'm not filling one out. Aside from not having watched any college basketball this year outside of Carolina's thrashing of Arizona (which, naturally, means Carolina will lose in the second round), I just want to root for the upsets. By not filling out the bracket, I can just enjoy the Cinderellas instead of worrying about the flames in which my bracket's engulfed.
