• I bought the new 12 Gardens Live album last night that chronicles Billy Joel's 12 nights at Madison Square Garden last year. And I think I've determined that Billy Joel concerts really boil down to being the most expensive group karaoke nights out ever. Does he even have to be there?
• I have a new morning sandwich preference: egg, cheese and tomato on a roll with salt and pepper. Deelish.
• I have no plans scheduled for tomorrow night. I might actually just peruse a whole night of televised soccer just cause I can.
• We figured out today at the office (it's Friday, it's been a long week and the boss isn't here) that I spent $375 on 20 oz. Diet Cokes during the year. I'm ok with that.
• A-Ha has a new album! And, frankly, the single Analogue is rocking my world. But, man, those guys got old.
• So here's the thing I don't understand: you go to a fast-foodish type resaturant ... let's call it RubWay for short. Now, they have a clean, pretty counter overlooking all of their vegetables so that everyone can see them and then choose the appropriate condiminiums for their sandwiches of destruction. So, why ... why?!?! ... do you feel the need to lay yourself prostrate all over the thing? You won't be able to see anything more clearly just because the angle changes to directly overhead. Just stand there like a normal human being and pick out what you need.
• The new college football game I bought has an interesting feature: when I created the digital Danny to be a player in the game, now I have to pick a major and get quizzed on the subject matter otherwise I risk flunking out of school. I've had two pop quizzes in the first three weeks in the game. Thank goodness I picked something interesting (American History). I've picked up my GPA from 2.5 to 2.9 so far because I know the stock market crash of 1929 precipitated the Great Depression and that Crispus Attucks was the death that sparked the Revolutionary War.
Oh, and my team is 2-0 and I've thrown for 700 yards so far.
• The new Rihanna song, Unfaithful, raises the whiny level on music to an 11. Did I get old or did music these days get whinier? I don't care if that's a word or not, by the way.
• Interesting soccer note of the week: Liverpool, my team in England, was drawn to face Maccabi Haifa in the 3rd round draw for the Champions League. The round is an aggregate goal (whomever scores the most goals wins) home and home matchup. Meaning that after the game on August 8 in Liverpool, they'll play on August 22 in Haifa.
Yep, you read that right. In Haifa. Where Hezbollah's lobbing rockets right now. UEFA might actually disqualify Israel from competition now because it's not safe to play games in the country. How interesting would it be, btw, do have Haifa reach the group stage and host teams such as Real Madrid or Chelsea in Haifa.
With the bombs falling.
It's a very interesting situation.
