Want to know what really got me into soccer? I was in Holland visitng my mom, and there was a Euro Cup game, Holland vs. Belgium. Belgium isn't a great team, but after Holland won, there were literally riots in the street. Cars got over turned, people were jumping out of trees. I joined in with some people arm and arm, chanting in Dutch and dancing. It was incredible.

I found it's much easier to get into a sport if you're cheering for a team. Whereas I can just watch most NFL games, I can't do it with soccer. But cheering for the USA in qualifying matches when most other countries don't think we belong/don't respect us makes it fun for me.

Sounds like when UNC basketball wins something. :) Which only furthers the college analogy... The Cameron Crazies would give any English firm a run for their money.
