What's the point of authority if any schmuck with 200,000 points can have the managers bend the rules for him? Seriously. We run the clock at Fantasy Island (where I work at as a supervisor/counter worker) on 15 minute intervals. Between 12 and 5 anything over 500 points is 10% off. So, 5:15 rolls around and, the 5 o'clock number had been pulled at 5 (meaning no more 10% deal after that number has been passed, and it had been) , a man had been hassling one of my co-workers about getting the 10% off even though he knew it was after 5 and the 5 o'clock number had been passed. So, she asks me to deal with him, I do and he leaves. 5 or 10 minutes later he's back and one of the managers has given him permission to have 10% off merchandise. Really, what is the point of having authority (which I do) when I'm constantly undermined when I am going by policy? Basically made my day suck, seeing as how I haven't been the counter supervisor in over 2 weeks, what with Lauren being back, or Mercedes working days I have been. *sigh* All my extra work for naught but an extra 75 cents a day added to my final summer paycheck. No respect, no authority, just a signature and a different title.
