30 Day Writing Meme- Day One, Two, and Three

Gonna try to this a couple questions at a time so it doesn’t take forever, but I’ve been wanting to get this started for a while, I’ve just been incredibly unmotivated.

1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

Well, fanfic was something I didn’t even know about until a search for Gravitation led me to Gurabite so, yeah…

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what I found appealing about the fandom, there are so many things I love about it.

First was probably all the humor in it. Gravi is funny as hell.

The characters are interesting.

A good storyline.

Oh, and all the steamy mansex.

When I started reading fanfic I was having a lot of fun, but it was a long time ‘til I felt inclined to write any of my own. I used to fancy myself something of a writer in school, but it had been a long time since I had done any creative writing, though not for a lack of ideas. I pretty much kept ideas for stories in my head-- mere daydreams, really.

And of course my obsession with Gravitation lead to a lot of thinking about it. Started coming up with plot ideas and such, and I thought perhaps fanfic would give me a chance for a audience.

But that was also the worrisome thing. Opening yourself up to possible criticism is always hard and for a shy, none too smart, ill educated girl completely devoid of any sort confidence such as myself, it was exceedingly difficult.

So when the urge to write wouldn’t go away I did start writing my own stories, but without the intent to share them. I was however pretty pleased with what I had written, and did want somebody to read it so I shared my fanfics with my little sister and she liked them and convinced me to post them.

So that’s how I got started in all this, and that was a rather complicated answer to a simple question.

2 - Name the fandoms you've written in, and how much you've written in that fandom, and if you still write in it.

Gravitation mostly.

I have over a dozen fic length stories and a handful of drabbles.

I’ve written a drabble for Saiyuki-- just a cute short-- and have a few works in progress

Sadly, I haven’t been writing to much lately. Work exhausts me and I’ve been having some rather crippling depression as of late. I have ideas and motivation, but no drive.

3 - For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?

I’ve had fun with all the characters I’ve written, even when I was having difficulty with parts of the story.

I’ve obviously written a lot of Eiri and Shuichi and like writing those two.

Shu’s insanity and energy are fun, and I love Eiri’s snarky dialog and witty quips.

Tatsuha is very fun too and can verbally spar well with Eiri so those two have some great interaction.

I’m just getting a feel for writing Saiyuki characters, but they are very interesting and enjoyable. I knew I’d like Goku from the start as he is my fave character from the series. I’ve been a little surprised by how much I’ve liked writing Gojyo, though he’s mostly a supporting character in my WIP.
