The Fourth!
Yesterday was amazing! :D
It was pretty spur-of-the-moment, but
botemuthegreat and I went to his work (Westin Building 30th floor) and watched the WaMu and Ivar's Fireworks from the data center windows! It was great, one side of the room faced Elliot Bay and the other faced Lake Union, and it was spectacular! WaMu was a lot more impressive than Ivar's...but we got to see both :). Downside was that we couldn't really hear the booms and crackles very well due to the loud humming of hundreds of servers... Looking out on Lake Union...HOLY COW there were a lot of boats out, BUT I would totally be fine with the boat traffic to see that show on the lake! When I'm fantastically rich one day; I will do it, and it will be amazing. <3
We turned out all the lights in the data center, so it was really dark...Sometime during the Ivar's show, we heard little kids laughing. The creepy kind you hear in ghost/horror films and you expect to see the apparition of a toddler behind you holding a knife or something... We searched all over the data center to figure out where it was coming from. Apparently there were kids in a corner that was fenced off (different company I think?) so we couldn't see them, but they were there. It freaked me out a bit though...
On the other hand, I was SUPPOSED to work all day yesterday, but they heavily overstaffed. How many people would go out for hamburgers when they can have a bbq at home on the 4th? Seriously. I was a food runner, but had nothing to do as there were only 4 servers on the whole floor (80 tables ish) whereas only 10 tables were being used at a time MAYBE. They told me to leave whenever I wanted after 30 min of being on the clock. At the hour they told me to go home... Not only that, but I was supposed to pull a double.
I asked if they really needed me, and they said I needed to show up...So I had to wait from 2 - 4:30 (not really enough time to go home, it would have been a waste of gas. However, after being there for 30 minuntes AGAIN, they told me to go home. It was pretty ridiculous.
I've been pretty addicted to FF tactics A2...but I'm sure the lengthy battles are gonna kill it for me when I get deeper into the story. They seriously need a speeder button for tactics games, cause going through like 15 enemy turns is NOT fun and takes forever. As much as I like 2 hour battles, if it could be shortened to oh...10 minutes that would be GREAT. That's why I usually play those games on emulators... Anyways, off to an enforcer party thing tonight, should be fun :).
