Day 12: Leech infested waters
Today when we let Colonel out into the aviary, Natalie noticed an explosion of feathers outside of the door. We initially thought that it was because Wiggy had come back and ate the dove that was inside of the aviary forever because it was too stupid to come out. It turns out that Kela was the one that caught it. We found the dove's body outside of the screen door to the backyard.
After that, we went to clean out the wetlands. That was a intense job. The pond is pretty overgrown and we had to clear out lots of vegetation. We had to go into the pond to cut and drag the plants. It’s really slippery in the pond because the bottom is lined with a thick sheet of plastic. Christina ended up slipping and completely falling into the pond. The rest of us just got really wet and muddy. There were lots of Bufo boreas tadpoles in the pond. Pretty cute. There were also quite a lot of leeches. I found one in my bathtub after I showered. Gross
To top it all off, I got another spider bite today. This one looks really nasty, and it actually hurts.
