I've been at my current job for just over ten years now. In the beginning, I really enjoyed it. It was a huge improvement over my previous job. But it didn't last. Over the years, my job became tedious and annoying. It didn't matter how much effort I put into my work, nor how much I accomplished. There was no reward for hard work. No motivation to put forth my best efforts. Then, a little less than a year ago, things began to change. A new supervisor was hired. Normally, I would expect a new layer of management to just further muck up the works, but this one really seemed to care about things like morale and rewarding effort. So yeah, since then I've got my best raise in years, a bunch of recognition for my work, and even glimmers of possible future advancement. As it stand right now, I'm the favorite in the department, even though the other day guy has been there more than twice as long as me. And due in part to a recent special project, I'm also apparently the go-to guy for Microsoft Excel work. XD Anyway, the short version is, I'm starting to enjoy my job again. Scary, huh?
