AAAARRGH.

So my laptop computer is dead right now. Or well, it is not possible to charge the battery or power the system by AC power. The power plug just doesn't want to notice that I am putting power into the computer. GRR.

And to make the matter worse, the warranty expired like 2 months ago D: D: D:

So I called Dell and they said it would cost $530 some dollars to repair. $530!!! Geck...

The repair, labor, inspection, and shipping would cost $200 and the replacement motherboard $330. I told the repair guy that I want the computer fixed, but, and nothing personal, I just don't believe that the price for a 2 year old motherboard would be $330.

I know the laptop is top of the line and needs expensive equipment. Computer equipment value decreases with time though. And this motherboard design is 2 years old. So I'm not going to pay the 2 year old price for a motherboard.

The repair guy, wisely, talked to his supervisor who ok'd a $130 discount. So the total repair cost (shipping, labor, parts) is now $400.

$400 is still about $100 more then I would like to pay, but I need a working computer. And the repair guy told me dell would give me another 3 months of warranty on the entire computer. Three months isn't much, but it should hold me over till I get a new laptop later this year or early next year.

So I will just use my father's iMac or my Nintendo Wii for the next week or so. Repair guy said I could have it as soon as Friday of this week. I'm not holding my breath though. My bet is on 2 Fridays from now.
