Video game news

Whoa. Long time no write.... again! I'll see if I can't do better in the future.

Anyway... So there is lots of video game type news to write about. I guess the first thing to talk about would be the new games coming out for the DS! There's a whole mess of them coming out. Final Fantasy III and a new Castelvania in November, Mario 3 on 3 basketball this monday, Megaman ZX on Tuesday, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon on the 18th, and Contact the day after that! Wow, lots of cool games. FFIII and Contact are Wi-Fi titles too, play online! And don't forget about the Black and Pink colored DS Lite systems coming out on Monday, either.

In other news, Sony's Playstation 3 is delayed, again, at least in Europe. While previously scheduled for a worldwide release on November 17, it will now only be released to Japan and the US on that date. Any one who wants one in Europe, Australia, or the rest of the world, will have to have to wait until March of 2007. In addition, Sony cut their delivery numbers for 2006. According to Kaz Harai, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, only 500,000 units will be available at launch (100,000 to Japan, 400,000 to the US). This is 1/4 of the number he quoted us when he spoke to us at this years Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show. Something about the Blu-ray disc laser part of the machine is having mass production problems and therefor blamed for the delay.

Nintendo, the day after, I guess to rub it Sony's face, told us, (paraphrasing abit here) "No problems over here! IBM sent us final production Wii CPUs over 3 weeks ago and we've been producing systems since July. We'll have no problem meeting our shipment numbers."

Speaking of Nintendo's Wii console, we still don't know what it's retail price is or the exact date of launch, but Nintendo has 3 press confrences schedualed (in Japan, US, and Europe) to tell everyone something on September 14th (this Thursday). And since they've been real hush-hush about such information, the speculation is that such information will be one of the things mentioned in this press confrence. So i'm excited!
