This article argue strongly against the idea of "designer babies", saying that although a parent is supposed to nurture their child, raise them and influence them to be good in the world, it does not mean that they can force their child to do what they want him or her to by modifying their genes. For example, if parents gave their child genes associated with music, that child is quintessentially being forced to be a musician, even if he wanted to be an athlete.
This article also makes the argument that feelings and emotions expressed would be less real with modified genes. Personalities would also be effected by this modification, making those fake as well.
