I apologize for my wife's behavior. If I had known what she planned I would have talked her out of it. But, I wish to negotiate for my wife's release.

However, Anita and her companion planned this assassination outright. She had Death seek favors from me in order for him to gain access to my home.

I have given her so much, Richard, and taken so little in comparison to what I could. She must be punished.

The support of a pack who's leader isn't currently your pet, Belle. Death and the Executioner are supposed to be the best and they both failed miserably in their attempt to kill you. We both know it will be guile and not brute strength that will kill Marmee Noir. There aren't many animals more cunning than a wolf.

I will keep Anita for a week and then release her to you. But my hold on her will be tighter than before. And I will hold you responsible for her actions.

If she attacks me again, I will consider it an attack by the both of you.
