It seems that if one wants somethign done right, one must do it oneself

For the last 6 months or so I've been involved in a test based roleplay so as to satisfy the muses and expand my horizons. Well, I've managed to make some new friends, but the muses are far from sated. I know I'm not one to talk, but I'm fed up with the railroading, I want to feel like the inclusion of my character actually matters to the overarching plot and that just isn't happening. As someone guilty of the mistakes of glass sky castles and one track plotlines, I've been very patient and tried to gently increase the quality of the story telling. But my pleas have fallen on deaf ears. So I've decided to run something I know I can enjoy, something that is created and geared specifically towards the inclusion of my players instead of a story that everyone suffers through.

As well all know, I'm not the best live action or tabletop storyteller. However, everything I've been told and everything I've seen indicates that I would be much better in a text based setting. Most of the reason I believe in my ability to do this is because in a literary setting I'm not under the pressure of real time and instant answers; I can stop and consider many aspects, as well as easily include information that while irrelevant, adds to the atmosphere and makes the story immersive.

That said, I want to invite anyone who reads this for two reasons. First I know everyone who can see this know how to write a good story and build believable characters. Second, the friends who are subscribed to my LJ are drastically different from those I have invited thus far. 90% of you have played tabletop, and almost as many of you have run games and will be able to provide me with on the spot feedback. Further to that, I want to include four style mechanics to handle character defining traits such as skills and abilities, not to mention combat. I intend to use standard d20 3.5 rules because I understand them the best, and having tried and tested players to mix in with the group of mechanical noobs will be a blessing all around. But don't worry, this isn't going to be a game of forum hackmaster, the game will be 90% drama driven, lending players the ability to let their creativity to run away with them. In particular I want to include Zack, Steve, and Jared for their D&D experience and online roleplay history, Sasha for her creative writing genius, Ali for her text based roleplay experience, and Lockenfaith because they're fucking awesome and I haven't been in contact with them in a while. Rose, I would love to see you join us as well, I can only imagine how your unique skills and personal creativity would add to what I'm trying to build.

I'm currently in the process of taking notes and suggestions on the universe I am to create. I haven't set anything in stone yet as I want to build something everyone will enjoy. I don't even have so much as a setting yet, though by the looks of things it might end up looking something like dragonstar. If anyone is interested in joining, please leave comment or send an email to tcolson1@gmail.com saying as much. Also, any suggestions or comments or suggestions would be most welcome, and any questions will be answered as promptly as reality allows.

P.S. I got Skype and have pretty much discarded all other messenger systems. use it to keep in contact with pretty much everyone else I've invited to join in this little escapade, so if anyone is interested in joining me there my contact name is Aoberaz.
