Hi. I'd been missing for a while, huh? Well, since I got my wisdom teeth removed this morning and I just woke up (and have nothing to do sin e I can't really get out of bed), I'll try to fill you in on some stuff that's happened lately. :D
First off, remember that cow that I designed for a contest that I posted a bit back? (sorry, I don't know how to post a link using the LJ app). Well, it got selected! :D. I'm so excited about it! As a refresher, I have to design the other side of the cow and I get a 3D life sized cow to paint. What I think is even neater is that my friend also won one two! Our school got 2 out of 30 in the NATION~. I can't wait to work on it since I'm sick of clay.
Ok, so you may or may not know that Valentine's Day was also the first day of the Chinese New Year, known as Tet in Vietnam. Well, since I'm both Vietnamese AND Chinese, my family naturally celebrated it. So on New Years Eve, we had a big lunch/dinner party at my grandma's house. My grandma, aunt, and mom had been cooking for literally a week prior to Saturday. Before eating, we would offer food to the ancestors at the altar and burn incense. There is also a tradition where you take paper money, gold, cloth, and other luxuries and burn them to "send" them to ancestors. I always found that really interesting. Another big tradition is when the adult generation give Li xi, or the red envelopes, to the younger generation for luck. Aside from that, the adults just mainly talked and watched Paris By Night, a Vietnamese music show. Truth be told, I can't stand Vietnamese music... Anyways, compared to other years, we didn't do very much this year. I'm not exactly sure why. On other years, we would also dress up in the traditional costume and go up to this monastery on the mountain to pray. I always loved that, but I guess it isn't happening this year... Well, either way, happy new years to everyone, even if you don't celebrate it. :D
So instead of going to the temple on New Years Day, or Valentine's day, I went to San Francisco again instead. (I really like it there). This time, I found the Baby the Stars Shine Bright and Black Peace Now store!! Apparently, it just recently opened. I was so excited when I walked in-- it was like a dream! Ok, the Baby the Stars Shine Bright stuff was really cute, but I'm not so into sweet Lolita (or whatever it's called), and I could never imagine myself wearing it, so I was more interested in the Black Peace Now. Despite the ridiculously high price, I was about to try something. Good thing I tried to try it on first... I'd forgotten that the sizes were Japanese sizes and that Japanese size M is not the same as American size M. XD. So the skirt I wanted to try didn't fit, and I have to say, I felt really embarassed that I even bothered to try it on. I was too excited to really consider the size before trying it, haha. Oh well~. I'm pretty sure I'll be back soon, though. There's gotta be something that would fit!!! XD. *embarasses self again*
Anyways... I had yakiniku that night and I've regained faith in Japanese food~. (I didn't like it so much before)
Oww, my mouth hurts and iPod's running out of batteries, so I'll stop here. Laters~~~
