On the whole 'finding out your God/Prophesy/belief isn't worth believing in' thing, I just watched Matrix-Reloaded before reading this chapter and I realized Morpheus goes through this very thing when Neo tells him that The One is just another system of control and that Zion will be destroyed. and then they blow up his ship. It's Niobe, in Revolutions, that picks up the faith thread:
Morpheus: I thought you didn't believe in The One?
Niobe: I don't. I believe in him. [referring to Neo]
which is a point I think very applicable to Exalted. Heaven, the Incarna, the Gods, they don't DO anything. They're not supposed to. they exist, and by existing support and deseminate the concepts they represent, which in turn supports Creation, which is where the People live, the People who DO THINGS. to put it another way, the difference between a Person and a God is that a God embodies a concept, a Person is a series of Choices.
