One sandwich short of a picnic

Mar 02, 2006 07:59

Well, not really, but I always feel incomplete if I'm without my watch, wallet and phone. Today I'm missing the phone - I thought I'd left it in my jacket pocket, but clearly not. Ah well, shall unearth it at lunchtime, I'm sure.

Broadband at home seems b0rked: last night, everything was taking an age to load - as in five minutes per page sort of thing. It meant catching up on LJ was impossible, so I gave up. Will attempt to catch up this morning, instead, then.

It's a beautiful, bright, clear morning today. That also means it's cold: J, making coffee, reported that it was -3½°C in his garden this morning. Yes, yes, I know you lot in the colonies will scoff at such balmy March temperatures, but us feeble Brits consider that 'fresh', at the very least! The coldest I have personally experienced, for certain, is -8°C, and that was whilst camping on Skye: we got up in the morning and the flysheet was board hard!

Which is by way of saying that it was a chill walk, this morning. Hence my breakfast of champions: a KitKat from the vending machine.

PS: cynthia_black: thanks for the envelope, sorry I missed you!

ETA: Relayed via the_register, apparently The States of Jersey may close the loophole that allows businesses based there to sell CDs VAT Free. I'm assuming this covers places like play in addition to the usual suspects. Correction: according to angelofthenorth here, the ruling won't affect businesses genuinely based there. So play should be OK, still.
