The remodel has overstayed it's welcome. More specifically, the plumber has. He seems like a good enough guy, but I'm not sure he's used to this scale of work. He's replacing all the water lines in the house as well as plumbing in a new bathroom. But rather than doing one part of the job at a time, he seems to jump from this part to that part to that part. Yesterday I asked him to remove a drain line under the bathtub so that I could build a wall that he needs and then he would be free to do whatever he had to do. He removed the drain line, but then told me I couldn't put the wall in until he put in the new drain line. So I waited, and waited, and waited. In the mean time, he was under the kitchen sink, behind the refrigerator and just basically everywhere except that bathtub.
Twice now he's "temporarily" plumbed the bathtub. I have no idea why, he's got holes cut through the joists, and rather than putting the pipe through them, he's run it underneath. Whatever, I think it has to be nearing completion. There's not really much more of the house he can rip apart to expose pipes.
The bigger concern with the remodel is money. My reserves are far lower than I'm comfortable with, one credit card is maxed out and the other has a small balance. I may have to slow down for a couple months just to save some more money to continue.
To top it off, now the furnace has an issue. It's still heating the house alright, but the circulating fan just won't shut off. There's a small thermostat on the duct and when the heat in the furnace gets hot enough it turns on the fan to circulate the heated air. Once the air is cool, it's supposed to shut off. I think that thermostat has broken because the fan is just running, warm air or cool. It's not really preventing the furnace from working, but it does make the house seem even draftier than it is.
Dunno, ready to have this plumber out of here, but then we're on to electrical. Everyone says it's stressful to remodel while you're attempting to live in the house. I guess I should have listened.
