This weekend, we got the closets framed out in the basement. It doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty much like making two small rooms, with lots of little things to consider. One more quick, straight wall and the bedrooms are essentially done. The good news is that a lot of the figurin' is done, so the rest of the space should just be quick straight framing.
Well, should be. We have a little issue with the floor. Someone, years ago, poured a new concrete floor about two inches above the existing floor. The two bedrooms are built on that new floor, but then there's a step down into the rest of the basement. the step is now going to be in the hallway, which is a little weird. So I really need to come up with a plan.
I was thinking today about the popular wisdom that "you are not your job." I believe that. Especially on days on which I don't feel qualified for my job. But then, what am I?
I think I fall into the trap of always thinking there will be time or money later. The truth is, later never comes. All this is to say, I think I need to brew a batch of beer and then invite people over for a tasting/dinner party. Right after I'm done with this remodel.
Doh!
