I feel like that monk in the joke

You know, the one who took the vow of silence where he could only speak two words once a year and spent all of his time complaining?

This is definitely the year when I am reminded that you can't take it with you.  Almost every material possession we worked for in the last 12 months is gone, and many that were with us much longer.  Every bit of progress in our personal drive to shore up the nation's economy has been lost.  It's really frustrating when you're trying to do the right thing for your country by buying more stuff and then someone comes and takes it away from you in the blink of an eye.

The vital records that were stolen this time will be problematic to replace, but not impossible.  Yes, we will have to watch our credit reports carefully (including the girls) for the next several months/years to avoid identity fraud.  Yes, we are insured, but I'm concerned if we file this claim so close on the heels of the last one that we will lose our insurance when it's up for renewal.  Yes, some white supremist terrorist from an enclave in the Ouchitas might be using my stolen passport to run drugs across the border.  That is irritating.

We are safe.  We didn't lose any animals today.  Yes, my truck broke down at the same time Bea was calling to inform me of the break-in - that did add to the stress momentarily.  No, it doesn't look like any easy fix on the truck.  An ignition problem - we'll probably have to pull the steering wheel.  Frank has loaned me his blue truck.  Of course, we realized my keys to the Element were stolen off the nightstand.  Bea and I will be trading cars for a few days on the off-chance it's one of her students who did the robbing (lots of burglary reported in her department this year.)  We have new plans for fence.  Not as attractive as we would like, but effective, we hope.  Red Dog will have much more room to run, soon.
