Cranky Tyler

Ty has been really cranky recently. Really really grumpy. For instance he would refuse to take off his shoes when we came home, howling and crying loudly when we tried to persuade him to take off. Once I was trying on clothes in the shopping mall and he cries so loudly while looking for me. (One of the customers even put his hands on his ears) He ( Read more... )

Naia's starting her terrible-twos behaviour too! So frustrating! Just started time-outs but I don't think she quite "gets it" cus she thinks it's a fun game. Grrr . . . .

We tried the pre-emptive and distraction method which is working so far but not sure how long it will last . . .

As for the night-wakings, it's apparently quite common during this stage, called night terrors. You must have read about it already but I still can't get over how wierd it is. I mean I wonder what causes them to do it? In Naia's case, she would sleep soundly, then do this startling yelp and then cry, throwing her legs on the mattress, but she wasn't really awake! First few times, I would rush in to check on her which caused her to wake up and cry even harder. So we read up on it, and Noah and I started waiting a few more seconds after the initial cry and she would just go back to sleep.

Good luck with the potty-training, I am looking forward to the day when we don't have to buy diapers or wipes, even if it is for a short period before a potential second child.

I thought it was night terror too cos ty was behaving the same way when he was less than a year old back then. But now I don't think it's night terror cos the second night he started crying, he was clearly awake and started demanding things and acting really cranky. I think he's just over tired and maybe still adjusting to going to new routines. Anyway we tried putting him to bed earlier and he has been sleeping well the past few nights (*cross fingers*)

Haha I can imagine how frustrating it is if Naia treats time-out as a game. Good Luck!
