people who care if I live or die

Just finished watching 28 Weeks Later, which I don't feel guilty for dling because the boy and I actually bought tickets to see it in the cinema, but fate conspired against us on that one. It was far better than I expected it to be (i.e. better than most horror sequels) and the visuals in particular were v. nice, lots of grainy colours but with a lovely lurid red for the blood. The action scenes were claustrophobic and confusing, tight close-ups and shaky camera work, and it's impossible to tell exactly what's going on, but you can tell from the screams and the spattering that people are being horribly killed.

The plot was fairly good too, particularly the opening five minutes (in which Robert Carlyle's character makes a choice that's supposed to be despicable but which is, in fact, one of about three sensible decisions made by anyone throughout the film), though it descends into cliché somewhat towards the end. Could have done with a bit more Robert Carlyle (because yes please, I would) and a bit less of his annoying whiny kids, but I suppose you can't have everything. Cillian Murphy should have had a cameo as one of the shrieking infected, though; that would have been fabulous. :D

Also, lol at the plot keywords on imdb - Blood Vomiting, Arm Blown Off, Horror, Torso Cut In Half, Heredity...
