The one thing that makes me glad I had an unpaid account in DA is that i wont have to feel so OC about getting any pictures first before writing whats on my head.
Last December 18, our local cosplay community Cosplay.ph and its official forum FilCosplay celebrated its 6th Christmas Party. And despite the date having a slew of other Christmas parties and events, some still came and celebrated Christmas with us.
Its still a wonderful feeling seeing people, both old and new, getting to know each other, swap stories/experiences and even making new friends. Its heartwarming to they chose to come over and celebrate with us as a community, and forget all the drama that came with it for the past year.
A huge surprise for everyone was when the Tuxedo Team showed up. Jin, Miguel and Kat came and joined our little celebration and were glad they enjoyed the time spent chatting, eating and playing group games. Jin gave me as a Christmas gift a copy of the Evangelion: You Can (Not) Advance DVD that I hope to cosplay next year if time would permit.
Everyone pitched in as well with cleanup and a last group photo was done to cap things off. To our surprise as well, Erving showed up at the last minute, and to much fanfare too, as the host of the party Kel stepped up in front of Erving and humorously re-enacted the "I'm sorry to tell you, but you came in last..." speech of the host of The Amazing Race. But no worries and he had everyone pose for pictures.
After the party, Jewel and I joined up with Wilson and Addy to eat dinner at Pancake House. Earlier we secured movie tickets for the 10pm showing of TRON: Legacy. And being the sweet geeks that we are, we came prepared with Glow-Stick bracelets of blue, pink, green and yellow, pretending to be demented little Programs. The security didn't mind the dimly glowing lights we had and surprisingly, the theater had very few moviegoers so groups were significantly apart from each other.
The movie was fairly awesome. It wasn't kick-ass awesome, but it was more than enough for you paid for. Too bad we couldn't take pictures of ourselves with our glowing bracelets inside the dark movie house.
So in the end it was a very fun and tiring day. Although very few people commented about it online, I'm satisfied that i saw with my own eyes how much they had fun, and how they were able to meet the people who selflessly volunteer to help out with Cosplay.ph and the Filcosplay forums, and by extension, helping out the cosplay community.
Merry Christmas everyone!
