Eh. I'll leave public for now unless I see my pictures show up places without permission.
Alright. I know this is like three days too late, but it’s better than never right? I’ve been trying to recover from Dover and then also uploading my pictures. Then, we had the weather from hell yesterday so I chilled out for the day. lol.
So. Dover.
It was a blast.
It was more than a blast. I’m going to both races every year now, AND I might even add in an extra track to somewhere I’ve never been if I can afford it. Whether it is Richmond or Talladega. Maybe even Pocono. I’m doing it.
Kristin and I left Hockessin around 7AM. It’s normally about a half hour to forty minute trip from here to Dover. Not long at all right?
Right.
But OH SO wrong too.
Left at 7AM, got there around 9:30AM. We sat in traffic just outside Dover. I really should have gotten off the Salisbury exit or just traveled straight down Rt. 13 like my gut was telling me. But no, I’m decided to be hard headed. If I had done what I had originally had planned, I probably could have met Casey Mears or found Brian Vickers’s trailer. lol. Shit happens right?
We finally parked my car and decided to walk around a bit since we had been sitting for the last two hours. Walked around to the different souvenir trailers. Robby Gordon was signing autographs, but I’m not a fan so I just watched instead of going up. lol. I didn’t want to buy anything for him to sign.
After a while, we decided to head back to my car to get the cooler and tickets. We finally took our seats, and they were AWESOME. Ninth row, between turns one and two. I’m getting the same seats for next year. WITHOUT A DOUBT. I thought I would want them on the Pit Road, but I really liked where we were sitting.
Driver’s intros came up, and I moved down towards the fence so I could get good pictures. I was standing there and as the drivers were being announced, people came up around me. There was a woman to the right of me who was really nice. She kept asking me which drivers were coming up. lol. The guy to my left on the other hand was an ass. He was a hardcore Tony Stewart fan. I used to not like Tony, but now I’m a fan of his as well. I was wearing a Bud hat while I waited for my favorite drivers. Took a picture of Tony, and the Tony fan PUSHED me. I kept my mouth shut. Junior (my main favorite) drove up with Ward Burton (and I absolutely ADORE Ward) so I went to snap a picture. The Tony fan tipped my hat and said, “Oh. You’re one of THOSE fans.” I just rolled my eyes and continued on my way. He pushed me again and I finally turned to him and said, “Look dude. You’re a 40 year old man hitting and pushing a 20 year old girl. That’s NOT a wise idea and if you continue to do so I’ll find a couple buddies of mine who are here and then we’ll see if you’re still pushing me around.”
He just walked back to his seat.
Some drunk dudes sitting next to us kept talking about Krissi's boobs. But whatever. They were drunk. LOL. Next time, I'm bringing a guy to a race with me.
The race was awesome. Kasey Kahne lost his engine in front of us, and Brian Vickers lost control where we were sitting. We didn’t see Matt Kenseth’s crash (who has now turned me into a newly crowned Matt fan after watching him on Inside Nextel Cup) until they showed it on the screen. The red flag dropped, and I didn’t want to sit through that crap so we went back to the souvenir trailers. Ended up picking up some Junior stuff to start my own merch collection. Sticker for my car, t-shirt and some beads for Mommy. I really want a Truex t-shirt for a Chance 2 t-shirt, but I forgot to go back to that trailer.
We actually saw Jeff Burton’s car catch on fire AGAIN after they brought it back to the haulers. I wish I had gotten a picture of that, but haulers and cars kept getting in my way. We also watched them work on Kasey’s car for about two hours until finally packing up. Also saw them work on Brian’s car. He and Jeff were directly in front of me. Brian. *swoon*
Ryan DOMINATED that race so we ended up leaving with about 100 laps left. We really didn’t want to deal with the traffic and that crap. I was only staying till the end if these people were in the top three: Dale Jarrett, Junior, Brian (and those who are NASCAR fans KNOW that wasn’t gonna happen), Kasey, Mikey or Jeremy Mayfield.
I really wish I went to the Busch race since Martin won, but I’m definitely going next year. I might even talk my Dad into doing an infield deal for the Cup race.
Now it’s picture time. LOL.
