Smallville casting spoiler!!! I'm definitely going to have to watch this, I just hope I don't hate myself in the morning.
Michael Shanks is going to be playing Hawkman on Smallville in a two-part episode that the CW is going to run together on one night, calling it a "movie event"! This is Michael Shanks in full costume. NOT KIDDING.

I could not make that up, I just don't have that good of an imagination. ComicbookMan says the outfit is true to the costume in the comic book. The "special" airs February 5, and the second hour is directed by Tom Welling. Go, Tom! \o/

Shanks is quite funny, self-depreciating, and adorkable in the article. Apparently there are references to a Justice Society of superheroes that he belonged to in the 70s, which only serves to remind me that I would have cast Shanks as Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl II in the Watchmen movie over the guy who played him.
