It's really not that hard, Viv. Gosh. You like stuff, reblog stuff, post your own stuff. There are some cute 30 day memes if you want a kind of startup for your original posts. Re: searches - just click the magnifying glass on the Search box, and choose Tumblr instead of My Dashboard or w/e. It's limited to text entries and tags though, I think? I don't use it that much

Oops, I missed that part where you said you already looked at the directory. And uhh there's an option to hide the Tumblrs that you follow (because it's a bitch to load on each. and. every. page. every. single. time.), so if it's not on someone's page, IDK if there's any other way to find it. D:

Googling "fuck yeah" + the subject usually gets you good results, though.
