If anyone is at large in the Harvard Square area between 11 and 1, you might want to come check out this action. Aw man, I'd better head out now.

From the FB invite: [Please note you don't have to RSVP here to come. I'm betting you just show up and introduce yourself/give your name to the organizers. We'll see if I'm right.]

No prob. A brief overview: there were from about thirty to about sixty people, coming and going in small groups throughout the session. Someone gave me a sign to hold that said "Honor the Treaties," which was perfect for my personal priorities. The people participating were of varying ages, skin colors, styles of clothing, and motivations for caring, and there was singing as well as chanting, which seemed to work well.

The group stood and chanted, sang, talked, and cheered outside Bank of America as a small group of people determined to take action immediately went inside, closed their bank accounts, came back out and cut up their bank cards with scissors. Then everyone marched over to the TD Bank and an overlapping set of people went in and did the same thing there.

I feel somewhat hypocritical because I still have a BoA account with a small amount of money in it. I want to close it out and put the money in a credit union or keep it in my mattress or basically in anything but a DAPL-investor. But the account is like twenty-five years old and still has my mom's name on it, so I'll have to get her OK on that and I'm not looking forward to the conversation.
