Poem: "Request Number"

Jul 07, 2011 01:04

Tell me a story, Father, please do;
I've kissed Mama, and I've said my prayers,
And I've bade good night to the soft pussy cat
And the little gray mouse that lives under the stairs.

Tell me a story, Father, please do,
Of power-crazed vampires of monstrous size,
Of hordes of malevolent man-eating crabs,
And pea-green zombies with X-ray eyes.

--poem by someone whose name I can't find online; first read in Wallace Tripp's Marguerite, Go Wash Your Feet, my only copy of which isn't readily available at the moment.  Will look it up later.
