Rejoice, rejoice with me!

Today is a day to remember.  This morning, I moved into the new house.  It was much easier and went far more smoothly than I had expected.  The days leading up to moving were far more stressful than this has been, so I was glad to be working on Yuletide and diverting my mind into more pleasing tasks.  There was much running up and down the stairs with boxes of clothes, and I don't have half enough books here yet, but it's over and I'm installed.  Admittedly, I left my bedroom at my parents' house looking like a hurricane still lived there, but I will tidy it all up when I go back on Christmas Eve.  My bedroom here is beautiful.  It's a remodeled attic, with a sloped roof and cabinets built into one side of the corner-space.  I've never had so many drawers before.  I have a Charles Vess "Stardust" poster on one wall, facing redcolumbine 's photo of a rugged landscape in Wales.  Yes, I am aware that this is dead against the requirements for first-apartment posters (all undergraduates must have a poster of Monet's "Water Lilies", if a woman, or "Water Lilies" plus Alec from A Clockwork Orange on the opposite wall, if a man), but I trust you people not to call the housing inspectors.

Tonight, I spent moonrise on the longest night of the year* walking a wolfish old German Shepherd through a neighborhood of old houses in the dark.  Later, I'm going to walk to town and see if there's anything fun to do.  Tomorrow, I intend to sleep as late as I wish, and then wrap Christmas presents and work on Yuletide.

Guys, I'm so happy I could get up and dance.

No more dams I'll make for fish,
Nor fetch in firing
At requiring,
Nor scrape trenchering, nor wash dish!
Ban-Ban, Ca-Caliban
Has a new master; get a new man!
Freedom, high-day!  High-day, freedom!  Freedom, high-day, freedom!

*As far as I'm concerned, it's the solstice tonight.  I saw a pomegranate on the counter at my parents' house this morning, but I didn't open it or eat it.  Persephone is going to stay above-ground, with a sun lamp for her potted plants.
