The crows did me a great favor the other morning. I heard them cawing when I got up, and I looked out the window to see them perched in the branches of the dead elm tree next to my house. There were three of them, screaming at a red-tailed hawk. It had been resting on a branch directly above our bird feeder, but it took wing and flew away as I watched. The crows flapped around it and harrassed it till it was out of sight.
Later I went outside and hung some boiled spaghetti over the fence as a present for the crows.
