The house smelled like dust, ashes and abandon. There was no life here, no cobwebs hanging from the charred ceiling, no rat droppings on the blackened floor. It was as if even the pests had deemed this place unlivable. Or maybe even they feared what lurked in the dark corners of the burnt down mansion.
