The Basics
What is a big bang?
A big bang is a challenge based around long fics (the word minimum's for these challenges vary from 5,000 to 50,000 words) and accompanying art. The minimum word count for this big bang challenge is 15,000 words.

Not to sign up, you can sign up with your AO3/tumblr/Dreamwidth or other accounts. You will need a livejournal account to post when its times.
What pairings and genres are allowed?
Any and all, provided that the story has a focus on the characters from Teen Wolf. This means that gen, alternate universe, crossovers and fusion fics are all allowed as well.
Is RPF (Real Person Fiction) allowed?
Yes it is!

What are check-ins and are they mandatory?
For authors, these are just gentle reminders along the way to give them an idea of where they should be in their writing process. For artists, there is only one mandatory check-in, to make sure that their work is progressing at a good pace and they've received the fic from the author.
Can I sign up for more than one role?
Yes, as long as you feel like you can handle it. So if you want to be an author AND artist you can be. However, if you sign up as both you can't claim your own story.
Can I sign up with a partner and not go through claims?
Yes, this is known as Track Two. Track Two allows an author/artist team to sign up together and collaborate from the start. There will be a separate sign up post for Track Two teams.
This is to give everyone an idea of the different tracks:
TRACK ONE
TRACK TWO
Tradtitional format where collaborative effort begins once author has submitted fic summaryAlternative format where authors and artists are friends who share a common idea for the final project and sign up togetherAuthor posts fic summary (with warnings) anonymouslyFic summaries are NOT posted for claiming because the team has been formed at the very beginningArtist claims summary that interests them Artist creates graphics/fanmixes/videos to accompany ficArtist creates graphics/fanmixes/videos to accompany fic
PLEASE NOTE:
• In order to ensure a friendly and non-competitive environment, in no situation are ANY participants allowed to comment on sign-up posts in order to form partnerships
• Nor should participants contact certain authors or artists they want to work with (based on quality of work or prompts) unless they are already friends, or have a pre-existing idea for the project
Bear in mind that we have no way of knowing whether participants who sign up as a team actually are friends, or whether they have a pre-existing idea for the project. We expect everyone to act in good faith.
Does signing up commit me to finishing?
For writers, there will be a drop out post if you at any point in the bang decide you can no longer participate. Once you have submitted a rough draft, however and have been claimed by an artist it's important you don't drop out. If you need to at this point please let us know as soon as possible. For artists, signing up is not committing… you only commit when you claim a story.
Once I've finished my fanwork, when will I be able to post it on my own lj or somewhere else?must be finished in its own right
Not until your assigned posting date. You are allowed to post your work to your journal/AO3 for your eyes only to test the coding but can only unlock for everyone else on the day you and your partner are assigned. On November 24th the posting schedule will go up and you can see your assigned posting date.
Can I friends!lock or make private my fic or art after posting?
No! If you do a fic or art for this bang, it must remain public. There will be a masterlist once posting finishes and readers should be able to just click and read, no friending required. Locking your fic or art also does a disservice to your partner in this challenge. If you do end up needing to (or have to delete entirely) please let us know and allow us to archive your work for you so the links stay live.
For Authors
What is the required length?
This bang has a minimum of 15,000 words. Flexibility is the key, however, if the fic comes in around 14,500 then that's fine, but 13,000 isn't. There is no maximum, only that fics must be completed by the end of the bang (that's not to say that you can't write a sequel for them, but the story must be finished in it's own right). So don't shoot for 100k if you don't think you can write that in 3 months.
Can I signup twice or co-write a fic?
You can definitely sign up for writing two stories as long as you are sure you can complete both. You may also cowrite a fic. For cowriting please have one person sign up for the both of you.
Can I use a fic I've already started?
Yes, as long as the story is not fully complete and has not appeared anywhere online (either in part or in full) you may use it in this challenge. If you have a specific example or question regarding this you can ask in the comments or by sending us an email describing your issue and we'll be able to give you an answer.
What should my rough draft look like?
Your rough draft should be at least 10,000 words or 80% done. It should have a clear beginning, middle and end. This way your artist can have a full story to work with in order to create art or mix. It does not however need to be the completed fic.
How should I submit my rough draft?
Email your rough draft as an attachment to teenwolfbb@gmail.com. It may take a little while for us to email you back, but we will email you with a confirmation once we've processed your information.
What should I include in my header when I submit my rough draft?
Your header must include the following, in this format:
LJ Username:
Current Word Count:
Percent Complete:
Title:
Type: (gen, slash, het, crossover - put all that apply)
Rating:
Characters/Pairings:
Warnings (sexual context, non-con, violence, strong language, underage, character death, etc - if there is anything in your fic potential artists should be warned about include it)
Summary: (try to write 1-3 paragraphs, please no more then 3)
AN EXAMPLE:
LJ Username: chosenfire28
Current Word Count: 10,000
Percent Complete: %80
Title: Sourwolf
Type: Slash
Rating: R
Characters/Pairings: Derek/Stiles
Warnings violence, underage sexual content
Summary: Derek is a wolf, and is sour.
Information about how to turn in your rough draft, final draft, and how to post your story will be given closer to the deadlines for each.
What should I warn for?
Other warnings are up to you, but please note that warning for rape, dub-con, incest, graphic self-harm/suicide, underage sexual activity, and character death is absolutely mandatory. If you are unsure of what to warn for or have a question regarding a specific part of your fic please feel free to ask the mods via email or by comment. Please err on the side of caution when warning.
If you feel warning may spoil part of your fic you can place the warnings behind blacked out or whited out text using the following code:
YOUR WARNINGS Remember, that these warning are for an artist and the last thing we want to happen is to have an artist drop out after claiming a story because there is content in it that they weren’t warmed about.
How do I post my fic?
You may post your fic on either your own personal journal, your writing journal or a personal website. The journal MUST be unlocked but can be at Archive Of Our Own, InsaneJournal, Dreamwidth, Livejournal, or JournalFen and your website must be publicly accessible. Then it should be posted to the community using our master post format as posted below. Please note that you must also post your art and link to those as well as indicated in the master post format.
Below is the master post format that you can use to post your fic. This will be posted again closer to the posting date as well.
Title:Pairing:Word Count:Rating:Warnings:Summary:Notes (if applicable): Link to Fic Masterpost by
by
Your subject line should be formatted like the following: Title, Pairing, Fandom, Rating.
Example: Sourwolf, Derek/Stiles, R
What if I can’t finish in time to submit a rough draft?
One option is you can submit your rough draft (any word count and percentage) as a part of the Unofficial Track. What this means is your summary will NOT be included in the claims post. You will have until the final deadline (November 20th, 2013) to finish it. If you manage to by or before then we will then do our best to arrange an artist for you. You can then post regularly with everyone else. This is just to give people a second chance at finishing.
If even this is something you can’t manage then you are absolutely allowed to drop out, no repercussions for that and we hope you are able to rejoin next year!
For Artists
What forms of art can be submitted??
Any, including but not limited to traditional drawing/painting, digital drawing/painting, photo manipulations, photography, fanmixes, fanvideos, podfics. If you are not sure the style of art you would like to do will be accepted please just ask!
What are the requirements for art?
You are required to make a minimum of one piece of customized art for your project, but you can make as much as you would like. The main requirement is that you put as much effort into your art as the authors do for their stories. However, if you are creating a fanmix, you are required to have at least eight (8) songs and to create cover art.
Can I claim more than one story?
You will be able to claim only one story in the initial round of claims. After 48 hours have past if there are still stories that have not been claimed we will put together a consolidated claims post and artists will have the chance to claim a second story out of those.
A fic has already been claimed, can I still claim it?
We want to make sure every fic gets an artist attached to it so if a fic is already claimed, please choose another one. In the event that we have more artists sign up then stories submitted we may make the decision to allow more than one artist to claim a story (authors who do not wish to have their story claimed a second time will of course be allowed to request to have their summary removed from this).
What if I miss the artist checkpoint?
If you miss the artist checkpoint we will email you a reminder. If you do not respond to that within 48 hours we will assign your story to a pinch hitter.
I'm available for pinch hitting, how do I let the mods know?
After the artist checkpoint a pinch hitter sign up post will be going up. Comments will be screened and summaries/fics will be sent out via email instead of by claiming on a public post. This keeps everything anonymous.
For Betas and Cheerleaders
What is cheerleading?
A cheerleader is a friend and a nag and a shoulder to cry on. Unlike a beta, they don't edit the story, but they do read it as the author sees fit and nudge the writer along over tough spots and cheer them on as they crest over the finish.
What is betaing?
A beta is an editor, a brainstormer, and a helping hand. Betas look over fic or art in possibly the earliest or the latest stages and give a second opinion, point out mistakes, and provide overall feedback. There can be betas for both fic and art.
How do I sign up as a beta or cheerleader?
There will be sign up posts for each where you can fill out the asked for information and leave it as a comment.
Will betas and cheerleaders be assigned?
No, it will be up to the authors to contact a beta and/or cheerleader from this post if they are in need of them.
Do I have to beta/cheerlead for anyone that asks??
Not at all, an author can approach you but you are absolutely free to tell them you can’t if you find yourself no longer having the time or if you feel you aren’t the best person to fit a particular story.
If you have any questions, feel free to either comment here or email the mods at teenwolfbb@gmail.com
