Tonight I'm going to write about a subject that I generally avoid discussing with others: religion/faith/spirituality. ( Read more... )

I am so sorry anonymous March 19 2006, 05:50:50 UTC
Liana - I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a baby at 18 weeks due to a chromosomal abnormality. Although I had 5 other miscarriages, this particular loss will haunt me forever. There's something about being so close and then having it taken away from you. I felt guilty for having let my guard down, as if that somehow explained the loss. (I still have not had a live birth). It's not fair.

As for religion, I was raised catholic in my younger years, but got away from it after elementary school. I went through my period of agnosticism, but when we started TTC, I went back as a "cafeteria catholic" knowing I wanted to raise my children in the catholic faith (I love communion for the same reason as you.) When the losses began, I stayed away - I was just so angry with God. Three years later, I still have not gone back. I've learned to cope by looking at my life as a bigger picture than just having a healthy pregnancy/baby. On the whole, I have a WONDERFUL life...a good husband, a good job, healthy family, loving pets. It really does help me to take a step back, even though the pain never really goes away.

Thinking of you.
