Why Am I Such a Weird Woman?

OK, I have a confession to make. I am not like most women. In fact, I’ve never gotten along with most women throughout my life. When I was about 12 or 13, I remember that the boys sat on one side of the room and the girls on the other. The girls were very interested in clothes, makeup and guys. Robin:

I don't see myself as being as narrow and closed as the Mommies I spoke of. They have every right to do what they want to do. I also have the right to avoid conversations I find boring and dull. The point is that I have the right to be the type of mother I want to be. I do not have to fit into their concept of what perfect motherhood is. That is my right.

And I also am entitled to my opinion about my being a SAHM. It is anathema to me and will remain anathema to me. My strong feelings about this subject don't cause me to tut tut to them about their choices with disdain. To each his own, in my opinion. I am pleased with my choice and that is the end of it. I do not judge them and they should not judge me.

I don't try to tell other people how to live their lives (except in my capacity as a health care provider). I respect individuality and personal choices. The groupthink mentality is disrespectful of the rights of individuals to find their own way.

As for thalidomide, it is used as an oncology drug; DES was prior to current FDA review procedures and as for Vioxx, people still ask me if I can get any for them from my company because it was the ONLY drug that managed their pain well. And none of these drugs match the great benefit that vaccines have had in our society.

In any event, peace.
