t’s the Ides of March and you know what that means…yep, the day that the AdoringOne and I made it official: 3/15/03
Unlike last year and that truly healing weekend (and
evocative blog posting), this anniversary snuck up on us between Zara’s meltdowns and my febrile strep throat and productive cough. Honestly I felt more like impaling myself on a skewer than going out to celebrate…though I am increasingly better this morning (thank you Zithromax). (And before I was able to finish the slideshow below, AdoringHusband called to tell me that he was being sent home from employee health after having sustained 2nd degree burns to his left hand after a poorly secured coffee lid fell off and splashed his hand with scalding coffee…so we do make a pair!)
The net of the big 7th anniversary is: still married, still loved and being loved, and still continuing the journey together.
Excerpt from, “Resignation,” by Nikki Giovanni
I love you
because the Earth turns round the sun
because the North wind blows north
sometimes
because the Pope is Catholic
and most Rabbis Jewish
because winters flow into springs
and the air clears after a storm
because only my love for you
despite the charms of gravity
keeps me from falling off this Earth
into another dimension
I love you
because it is the natural order of things
