I've Been Trying

’ve been trying to get back here before today and update the ol’ blog with a bit of an odds and ends type of post. Didn't want to get into anything heavy after the drama that was last week. But unfortunately work and life kept conspiring mercilessly against me. Perhaps if my nails had been a little shorter, I would have had an easier time doing my moblogging on my iPhone, but I have the damndest time trying to write anything of any length using that stupid touch screen.

Yet I am currently at the ready to use it to purchase the Wii Fit
I have been waiting for for two months. Yeah I know, everyone and his/her brother either wants one or has no freaking idea what it is. I'm looking forward to adding it to my exercise routine now that evil Luda has come back to torment me get me in shape.

I set up my Amazon Alerts so that I can get an immediate text message when Amazon gets them back in stock. I’m not interested in paying the exorbitant scalper prices available through the Marketplace sellers or eBay. On Wednesday I got an alert that there would be Wii Fits available at 12 PM PST. I sat at my computer at 3 my time and waited and waited…(and ending up missing the beginning of a very important presentation by the president of our division) but no Wii Fits appeared. Then yesterday at 2:40 EST, I received another notice that there would be Wii Fits at 12 PM PST. This time I didn’t wait until 3. I just took my mobile browser to the Wii Fit page, refreshed a few times and Hallelujah! There was a Wii Fit available for $89.99! I quickly put it into my cart and went to check out. But by the time I managed to log in, the damn thing had been taken from my cart and “saved for later.” They were out again! Arrgh!

It was only today that I learned about Textbuy. Had I been smart enough to have signed up for Textbuy when I signed up for the alerts, all I would have needed to do is reply “buyfit” and one-click ordering would have taken over. So now, I am armed and ready…I will get my Wii Fit.

The Mail Bag

OK, so it isn’t really a mail bag. It’s more of a comment list, but I wanted to take the time and reply to some comments that I hadn’t gotten to.

Deathstar asked: Do all people where you live get that level of care? (Referring to my multiple mammograms, MRIs and such)

I don’t believe so. This radiologist seemed very much into the concept of CYA especially when he read on the screening form that my sister had breast cancer. But considering that genetically she is a half-sister and we have no other history of cancer in our family, my risk is not that much higher than someone with no family history of breast cancer. I’ll tell you what, though. When I go to have my repeat mammogram in 6 months, it won’t be back at the place where this guy is reading the films. I can assure you of that. He might see a speck of dust on the screen and start prepping me for surgery!

Leann asked about where I got Zara’s rocker that appeared in the Zizi Walks! video.

Zara went nuts about the little rocking chairs that they have in Gymboree, so I set out to find that little rocker. Turns out they are made by Hoohobber and you can buy them through Amazon among other places: Kids Folding Rocking Chair by Hoohobbers - Primary (canvas)
And they also can be customized with the child’s name. She loves her little chair.

Now back to the crusty feet post. Stillamomma suggested the use of the PedEgg: I use the “Ped Egg” I LOVE IT! It is this llittle ‘as seen on tv’ thingy that is shaped like an egg but the texture reminds you of a microplane (like in the kitchen grater type thingy) but it catches all the dead skin. I use kerasal too on my feet and do the sock ritual at night. It works like a charm. I LOVE to go barefoot, so my little ritual cures all that ails my tootsies. You can get the egg at Bed Bath and Beyond or on the website pedegg.com (I think you get 2 for 10 if you call in)

WAIT! Did you go to the spa without me? *karatechop*

Would you believe that I have the Ped Egg Pedegg + 3 Replacement Blades Combo + BONUS Miracle Foot Repair
sitting in my bathroom?

The issue is taking time to use it. While I will put cream on my feet on the regular, I’m not so apt to grate them as I should. That’s why I like the Carol’s Daughter Sage & Shea Foot Butter.
It is very softening and emollient, but I will have to give the Kerasal Foot Exfoliating Moisturizer with Salicylic Acid & Urea
another go, especially since Boulder seconded the recommendation. However the people at Sephora were raving about L’OCCITANE Shea Butter Foot Cream
. I wasn’t so sure, though.

And no, my dear Stillamomma, I am still waiting for you to be free so that we can go to the spa!

My plans for the weekend include setting up my new computer, and packing for my trip to Hotlanta next week, but I want to post about two things. First my garden. You should see the ginormous zucchini that I just harvested yesterday! My goodness! And second, I feel some kinda way about this story: What the hell was this doctor thinking? Even though she was not physically harmed, this story just raises my feminist hackles about doctors taking liberties and feelings of paternalism. I’m putting these two bookmarks here because so often I want to write about something, but never get to it. This time my goal is to actually get back here and write. Please hold me to it.

I’ll leave you with this cute video that could have been authored by Rory, one of our two kitties. Willow is a little too dim to pull it off, but she is so cute. We love both of them to pieces, as does Zara, who has learned that flying tackles of the kitties are the best things ever! (Rory she rarely catches, but Willow…)
