appreciate all the replies to my last post. I was so afraid of coming off as a whiny brat, but you guys really understood my feelings on the subject.
The good news is that one of my favorite online friends,
Cecily, has offered to throw me a shower. I am so thankful (and of course am feeling undeserving and unworthy, but I need to work that crap out with my shrink) for her generosity.
Cecily is part of a small group of women who met and bonded on Fertility Friend about 4 years ago. We are the PhillyFriends.
Julie, Margie, Michelle, Ellen, Michele,
Barb, Chrissi,
Tara, Cecily and I all embarked in late 2003, on the arduous journey to parenthood. The path was fraught with miscarriage, life-threatening pregnancy complications, adoption disruption, and more disappointments than any group should have to handle. Yet as of June 29, 2007, we all have fought our way to motherhood. Through natural conception, IUI, IVF, adoption and gestational surrogacy we have moved from an infertility support group to a mommy group. So dear Cecily and the PhillyFriends are planning a shower for me in August or September. Did I mention how grateful I am?
Many of you suggested a spiritual get-together such as a baby naming ceremony. Those ideas were wonderful. Yet, I neglected to mention that we plan to baptize Zara as soon as the adoption is final. We are looking at November sometime. I’m hoping that my family will be able to come out from the left coast in order to attend. So there lies another opportunity for a fabulous party.
My last little update for the night before I go to give Little Miss her bath. I heard about a wonderful program for families formed through adoption:
Celebrating Adoption. A national organization of photographers have agreed to donate their time to celebrate love…life…adoption. They offer free photo sessions for newly formed families created through adoption.
Through the website, we found a great photographer who is literally down the street from us in Lansdale. We’ve scheduled a Celebrating Adoption photo session for August 16th, after we return from Hawaii. How fabulous is this program? Spread the word!
