Yesterday was good. Little Big Brother Alastair and bestie!Steph and I went to London to see Strictly Come Dancing live -- which was good, but it wasn't just that that made it a good day. The whole train journey, chatting about Rammstein and arguing with Alastair and poet!Ieuan texting me about the Council of Elrond and dissecting a TV soap ( Read more... )

live entertainment owns me, they gave me the crazy genes, sometimes i watch tv, you're as bad as me. i love you, you and your feelings bb

live band's version of that Hairspray classic (now also a 'This was in my panto!' favourite of mine) was, um, crap

Is it the same band as on the TV show? Because, lawd, I've always thought the singers are fucking awful.

Yep, though a different band leader (I wanted Dave Arch and his sparkly ties, dammit!) Normally, I agree, the singers are the weak link in the chain -- though yesterday, they were mostly bearable and only occasionally teeth-grittingly bad.

But it was the band who made You Can't Stop the Beat sound like a hot mess. I was not impressed.

Oh, dear.

Hello, btw. I feel like we have not communicated in a while. What is up with that?

Very little. My life generally revolves around watching ridiculous television, which is pretty awesome. Although, I may be covering Ke$ha for BotB this year. About which I should probably feel more ashamed than I do.

How are yoooooooouuuu?

Good. I'm going through the period of obsession with Rammstein which I've managed to suppress for several years now. They were really amazing live.

The only Rammstein song I'm familiar with is that one about eating penises, which weirded me out so much I never looked any further into them. I doubt they'd be my jam, anyway. But I can imagine them being rather spectacular live.

This is my newest obsession:

Yeah, provocative lyrics are a bit of a thing with them. But the only song of theirs where I'm really like, "oh no, too far" is the one about Josef Fritzl, and their German-ness, clever wordplay, interesting videos and AWESOME PYROTECHNICS OMG have me on my knees, basically.

For some reason, the way the girl hits the ground with her leg stuck up in the air really amuses me.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SHOW IS AMUSING. It's like Merlin, but gayer. And with dodgier accents.
