No I did not get much sleep last night. At all. I finally decided to take a whack at sleeping at around 4:40. I tossed and turned till about 11:30 in the morning, and Grandma suggested that I start doing this to get used to the time difference in England. Smart idea.
Anyway, before I get ready to face another five extremely boring hours at work, I figured I'd write down my rather un-hilarious Monday night photocopier story.
The Printworks guy, Romesh, was on a break, and he'd gotten Karthik to look after Printworks for him, which was all very well until this admittedly very nice customer asked him to photocopy these A1 size plans. We have a photocopier to do this with but it's a fairly new acquisition and he didn't know how to use it. Neither did I.
So we're looking at it for a bit and he says "OK, I'll try it. Nothing will happen I'm sure." and I rather dubiously said OK. He then looked at the customer and said to him "You don't mind if you lose this one, right?" and I realised, uh-huh! he's making a joke. Nice. So I joined in with a reassuring "Yes, see this photocopier might be a shredder. We're not too sure yet", causing much nervous but I think genuine laughter.
I've told this story several times and I'm sure those who aren't thoroughly sick of it are wondering why I'm obsessing over it. I'm not too sure myself, but I think I like to try and remember stories like this, because they remind me that I am good at interacting with other people sometimes, in my own way.
Perhaps I like the reassurance.
Anyway, preparing for work time now.
